Trimmed trees. 2010. Autumn. Village of Trumponys We have owned an Aukštaitian homestead in this village for 17 years now. I have done a lot of artwork here and built a new workshop. Every year I trim the trees in the orchard, plant new trees, cultivate the soil and then draw and paint these modified landscapes. Also the Alanta Church, which we can see from the yard of our homestead although it is 2.5 kilometers away.
Thorn bush in the fields of Alanta. 2010 Can we perceive it as a Biblical image (the flaming bush of Moses)? Partly. I dug out the bushes in autumn in the outskirts of the forest and brought them to the yard of our homestead in a wheelbarrow. My sons helped me plant them. Now I draw and paint them. There are many parallels with the Bible. I have also planted a hawthorn tree – Christ’s wreath was made of this tree. (Dr. Vidas Poškus / Vaidotas Žukas)
